She has won more than 17 medals at national competitions, and is a member to the Ladies Texas Golf Association. After graduating from high school, Garcia proceeded into Texas Christain University studied there for a few years before moving into the University of Texas. After arriving at Texas Christain, she experienced a highly competitive setting that made it easier for her to improve her golfing skills. Angela Akin Garcia chose journalism rather than golf despite experiencing joy and satisfaction in her playing. The first opportunity she got was upon graduation, as an Fox Sports Southwest Reporter.
